The Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) is a points-based residence permit that allows qualified professionals from India and other non-EU countries to enter Germany without a job offer and search for employment for up to one year.

A job offer is not required to apply for the Chancenkarte. You can enter Germany, attend interviews, and search for a suitable job after arrival.

The Opportunity Card is usually issued for up to 12 months.
During this period, you can search for full-time employment and work part-time up to 20 hours per week.

Once you secure a qualifying job, you can convert your Opportunity Card into:

  • A German Work Permit, or
  • An EU Blue Card (if salary criteria are met)
